History

2008: The Ellison Park Cyclocross Race first started in 2008 as an amateur event and was the inaugural cyclocross event in a Monroe County Park. The race was a 1-day on a Sunday in September.

2009: The event expanded rapidly in its second year and almost doubled racer registration for 2009. The race remained a 1-day and event management submitted a bid to USA Cycling and the UCI (Union Cycliste International, the governing body of world professional cycling) for a potential international race in 2010.

2010: In 2010 the event was awarded a 1-day international UCI race and evolved into a 2-day event with amateurs competing on Saturday and professionals on Sunday. Rohrbach’s Brewing Company also signed on as title sponsor.

2011: The Rohrbach’s Ellison Park Cyclocross was again awarded an international 1-day UCI race and the event remained the same 2-day Am Saturday/Pro Sunday format as in 2010.

2012: 2-day UCI for 2012! After continually refining and developing the event towards a 2-day international UCI event, we were granted a full weekend allowing us to transform the event and accommodate amateur racing AND professionals both Saturday and Sunday!  Rohrbach’s Ellison Park CX was a huge success – photos and results are now available!

After a great weekend, the 2012 race is on the books!  It went great and soon we’ll be working on 2013. Before we get to that though – check out the following recaps, press coverage and photos that the cycling world has been putting up about Rochester’s very own Rohrbach’s Ellison Park Cyclocross:

2013: Moving the event into the heart of ‘cross season, we’re thrilled to have another showcase weekend in October! We will draw athletes from around the globe once again with races for all abilities on both Saturday and Sunday. Check out the schedule of events and don’t miss a second of the action!

2014: Elevated to Class 1 status and set for the weekend after Providence we couldn’t be more excited to take Ellison to the next level. You’ll want to be there from beginning to end!
